In ancient mythology Tyche (luck) was Ocean’s and Tethia daughter, Goddess of happiness and (Fortuitous) Chance. Homer calls her << fairy >> and Pindarus calls her << fate >>. She has Amalthia’s horn as her symbol, which is the symbol of euphoria and wealth. In historic times, many towns, believing in the Goddess of Tyche (Luck), made magnificent statues bedecked with a castellated, which represented the walls of the city and the symbol of wealth – the ears of corn and the horn full of fruits – in her hands. There was a temple in honor of her in Alexandria, the << Tychaion >>. Praxiteles had also made a statue of her in the shape of a burly woman in Megara and another in Athens, which was called << Agathe Tyche >> (<< Good Luck >>).
