Six tragic poets

Aristophanes (446 BC – 386 BC), son of Philippos, was a
Greek Old Comic dramatist. He is also known as the
Father of Comedy and the Prince of Ancient Comedy.

Aeschylus (525 BC/524 BC – 456 BC/455 BC) was
an ancient Greek playwright. He is often recognized as
the father or the founder of tragedy.

Homer (750 BC – 650 BC) is a legendary ancient
Greek epic poet, traditionally said to be the author
of the epic poems the Iliad and the Odyssey.

Pindar (518 BC – 438 BC), was an Ancient Greek lyric poet.

Sophocles (496 BC - 406 BC) was the second of the
three ancient Greek tragedians whose work has survived
to the present day.

Euripides (480 BC – 406 BC) was the last of the
three great tragedians of classical Athens.
