In ancient mythology Muse is the Goddess who inspires poets and brings the song on their lips. Homer appeals to Muse in both <<Iliad’s>> and <<Odyssey’s>>, preludes. << Sing to me Muse, about the ingenious man>>. Muse is in general meaning, the instigator, the figure that’s inspires, the artist encourages him and give him the spirit for creation. Each one of them protects a spiritual creation or art. Kalliope who is the most prevailing is the Muse of poetry and especially of the epic poetry, Erato and Euterpe protects lyric poetry, Melpomene protects tragic poetry, Thalia protects comedy, Kleio protects history, Terpsichore protects dancing and Polymnia the serious sacred poetry. Linus and Yacinthus are mentioned as Muse’s children and Orpheus is mentioned as Kalliope’s son. Nowadays especially when we say that someone loves the Muses we mean that he cultivates Literature and arts.
